A visit from grandma

One day Susan and husband were very busy moving around furniture. When finished they had transformed their office into a new bedroom! I love beds, but sadly enough I’m seldom allowed on them… This time it was even worse: I couldn’t even go into the room anymore. Of course, not being allowed in the room, made me want to go in there even more. That’s how I role!

Ruby & grandma airportThe next morning Susan took me to the ‘airport’. When I’m there we always meet nice people and usually somebody comes home with us. I was waiting patiently with Susan, just lying at her feet, while she was eyeing the stream of people that came from a mysterious place behind a wall. Sometimes people with wonderful new smells came over to pet me, take pictures of me or to talk to Susan. One young couple found out I could ‘give hand’ but as they didn’t have any treats to reward me, I quickly got tired of them and lied down again. I was a very good girl, minding my own business. But at one point, three dangerous looking men and a foul smelling dog walked up to Susan. The men told her I was not allowed there! And the dog was giving me the same message! Susan told them she had checked for signs that said “no dogs allowed”, but there weren’t any, and she was waiting for someone that could come any minute. What could she do? But the men were very persistent: I had to be in a box (?!) or stay outside. Poor me and poor Susan, I could sense she got very upset. So I wanted to help and started barking to scare the nasty men and ugly dog away, but strangely enough this only seemed to make things worse. So Susan took me outside, tied me to a fence and marched back into the giant building. I did not agree at all, but luckily she immediately spotted the person we were waiting for: IT WAS GRANDMA! Aaaah, all was forgotten very quickly! It was so wonderful to see and smell grandma again. I was very, very happy. Look at my tail! Ruby & grandma walk

Grandma came home with us and stayed for many days! She brought a whole suitcase full of wonderful smelling things and slept in the new bedroom. We had so much fun and of course also a small quarrel now and then. Mostly because I wanted to eat something, and she didn’t want me to have it. There were many dogs around as usual, but I was the only one allowed to be walked by grandma, as I am the most well-behaved on the leash and almost never pull. It was great!

But then one day, she left. Susan took her to the ‘airport’ and I was not allowed to come with this time. I wonder why…
