Finding Susan was a huge relief for us as newcommers to Hong Kong! It’s completely different from any other place we’ve tried around the world. Our older Labrador mix, Sophie, absolutely loves her stays with Susan and her husband Mark, where she also gets to hang out with their dogs. She really enjoys their company, who treat every dog like part of their family. What makes it even better are the pup(up)dates Susan sends throughout the stay with them, where she chronicles their adventures with witty and funny commentary and photos. Sophie loves her time at Susan’s so much, we know she always looks forward to the visits, where she gets to enjoy the social atmosphere and nature. We highly recommend Susan and Mark!

Susan and Mark (plus Ruby, Gene and the late ‘Sergeant’ Flanders) are not just your average dog sitters, they became Mei’s second family during our time in Hong Kong. Our anxious rescue Mei, dubbed ‘the mustang’ by Susan, always loved her time at Happy Tails. In fact, the daily ‘pupdate’ was a highlight on our holidays, seeing how happy and well adjusted Mei was (plus, the witty photo commentary made for many laughs). Thank you to the Happy Tails family for all the good times, and ensuring Mei made it the airport on time to start her new life in Africa.

We were so lucky to find Susan when we decided to make the move from HK to New Zealand. Our very active Schnauzer Milton stayed with Susan for 2 months.

Susan sent wonderful updates with photos of Milton on hikes, snoozing and playing with friends. I noticed Milton “smiling” in many of the photos! He very much enjoyed the great outdoors in Lantau. Also the comfort of being in Susan’s beautiful home.

Susan organised all of Milton’s vet appointments with the pet relocation company. Not to mention taking him back and forth for several vet visits before he made the journey. She also found him a lovely dog groomer!

Milton arrived to us safe and happy after his fun holiday with Susan, Mark and his puppy pals. We couldn’t recommend Susan’s Happy Tails enough!

If you are looking for a dog kennel in Hong Kong I can highly recommend “Susan’s Happy Tails” on Lantau.
Our little four legged family member has spend 2 summers there (3 weeks each time). We first visited Susan and her husband to see the facilities prior to our first commitment, and were struck with their love for dogs! Susan takes up to a maximum of around 5 dogs and they live in their house! Around the house is a fenced garden where the dogs can run around and play and every day while on holidays we would receive a dog-diary and photos of adventures from walks. We were pretty blown away at the effort Susan makes to not only make your dog feel at home, but also to put its owners mind at ease. We felt completely assured and relaxed about leaving our dog in Susan’s competent care.

You’ll be asked about your dogs likes/dislikes, how sociable, health issues, dietary requirements etc. You’ll also be asked to provide your dogs food, medicine, favourite toys, and ensure your dog have the required inoculations.

Happy Tails is not your run-of-the-mill dog kennel where your dog is provided food and shelter and otherwise confined to a cage most of the day. Happy Tails is a holiday camp for our dog, which was evident the second time around we brought him there. Needless to say, we will be bringing him there again next time.

I am so grateful that we found Susan’s Happy Tails! When we go on vacation, our two border collies get one too, with lots of hiking, swimming and playing in the yard with their new dog friends in Mui Wo. Susan and Mark treat our dogs like family, and I know they are well taken care of. Susan’s daily emails with lots of photos keep us up to date on all of the dogs’ adventures – sometimes I think they are having a better time than we are! We looked at several different homestay options for our dogs, and Susan’s Happy Tails is far and away the best one we’ve found. Highly recommended!

Jessie has stayed with Susan and Mark, for short term and long term holidays, since 2014. She loves all the fun activities they do, hiking, the beach, the plays with other dog friends in the garden and next to that all the love and attention she gets from them. We enjoy seeing the journals and photos and are able to relax to the fullest with Jessie staying at Susan’s Happy Tails. We feel like Jessie is going on a holiday too and we are absolutely sure she loves her holidays a lot.

Susan treats the dogs like family, she pays special attention to individual eating / sleeping needs. No cages, clean, spacious open living environment.

Susan also uses common sense when taking the dogs out on daily walks and even adds in a bit of extra training (if required). Doggy Bonus!

I especially loved receiving Susan’s daily emails, it really put a smile on my face to see CJ so happy.

I highly recommend Susan’s happy tails for your dogs next staycation.

Susan and Mark have looked after Teddy while we travelled overseas. I was impressed by how professional and detailed Susan was before Teddy first stayed with her. He had never been away from home before and he is 11.5 years old and on medication, so of course I was slightly anxious but there was no need to worry. He is a sociable dog who loves people and he was right at home in their house.

Teddy has stayed twice with Susan and Mark and their dogs Ruby & Flanders. On both occasions they were wonderful. He had so much fun! He absolutely loved their garden, the countryside walks and the other dogs. Susan and Mark were so attentive and kind and sent me daily reports of what he had been upto including photos. It was so reassuring knowing he was being well looked after. In fact, I am sure he enjoyed himself far more than when he is home with me!! So it really was a great holiday for Teddy!!

I would have no hesitation sending Teddy off on the ferry again for his adventure with Susan and Mark next time we are away. I can’t recommend them enough.

Our dogs love going to Susan’s and we trust her entirely. We love it because Susan has such a good understanding of how dogs get along so we don’t worry. We have dogs ranging from a 3kg pomeranian to an 18kg Hong Kong mixed breed and 2 in between who all love it and love her. Amazing place to leave pups when on holiday!

I couldn’t recommend Susan and Mark more. Our dog Sjors first went to her when he was only 6 months old and he came back better behaved than before that holiday… 😏 He loves her to bits and visibly enjoyed every single day at their nice place. (Susan sends daily updates with pictures via email, always the highlight of our day when we were travelling!) We were able to go on holidays guilt-free, because it felt like we just left our dog with family. Thanks auntie Susan!

Leaving Pepper and Manx with Susan and Mark in Mui Wo has become a crucial component to our travel plans. There is hardly a more satisfying feeling for my wife and I as dog owners than the one we always get as we walk away from the drop-off, full of confidence that Pepper and Manx will have the best of times in the best of care. Additionally, the daily update photos and summaries bring us constant joy throughout our own travels, wherever they may be, and ensure us that Pepper and Manx are having at least as much fun as we are (and probably more). With Susan and Mark we are always certain that there is no better place for our pups to be whenever life pulls us away from Hong Kong.

Djazzy loves being with Susan and her doggies in Mui Wo. Being free in nature, running off leash, a lot of hikes and the trips to the beach. I just know he loves it.  The idea of him being at a home environment does also makes me feel safe and I always have the feeling that Djazzy has his own holiday when we are away as well.

Also Susan always gives great updates of how he is doing. I believe that he is in the best hands with her and her husband.

My husband and I highly recommend Happy Tails as your next dog sitting service. Susan and Mark watched our dog Pani on multiple occasions for long periods of time and treated her as if she was one of their own. There is no other place in Hong Kong we’d leave our Pani dog with. And Pani loves loves loves it there, she’s an active dog and gets ample outdoor time (hikes & beach).

We love Susan and Mark! Not only can we rest assured that our girl gets a proper walk / hike every day, but we know she is with two people that treat her with as much love and care as if she were their own. If we can’t be the ones taking care of her, there is no other place we would rather have Blue stay. That also means that we actually enjoy our vacations, not worrying and always looking forward to hearing about Blue’s adventures with Ruby & the other pups. We are so grateful that we have found Blue a home away from home when she can’t travel with us.

We felt very content in having our dog Denzil at Happy Tails, being situated in the green beach village Mui Wo the dogs
can have lots of fun on the beach and in the mountains, and we saw proof of the fun via the daily updates with tales. The daily mails and photos was really a super duper thing for us! Recommended!

Susan, Mark & Ruby looked after our much loved dog Roxy for 2 weeks, whilst we were on holiday.

Roxy had the best time at Susan’s place and made lots of new friends. The location is perfect, Susan has a wonderful home which is very comfortable for all the dogs to play inside or out in the garden and for some much needed down time (after all their daily adventures). Roxy loves being outdoors, which is one of the reasons why we chose to have her stay at Susan’s Happy Tails. Roxy went out on some great walks with all her friends and spent lots of time at her favourite place- the beach!

We loved the daily updates and photos of all the mischief and fun they all got up to. It became an important and fun part of our holiday to read them every day. We knew that Roxy was having the time of her life and was getting all the love, attention and care she needed. It made our holiday a more relaxed one knowing that she was with Susan and the gang having lots of fun. When we got her home she was one very tired puppy and looked like she needed another holiday to get over the one she just had!

Thank you to Susan, Mark and Ruby for looking after Roxy. We hope she can come and visit you all again soon.

Thank you so much for looking after Hetty. I felt so at ease leaving her with you and the dogs. I can tell she had a great time and was totally shattered when she got home! I loved the daily emails complete with pictures or her mischievous adventures!

I was so happy when my boys, Flocky & Monk came home but felt bad for Susan, Mark & Ruby. My boys spent almost 5 months in their home sweet home, when they came back, they were much stronger, also healthy & happy. More mature and well behaved. They had a long holiday in Mui Wo having such good times and ventures in Lantau. I was so relieved the first time I saw Susan when she came to my home one night to pick the boys up while I was not feeling well and must find a temporary home for them. The boys liked her immediately. I was so happy to see them play like brothers with Ruby and so eager to hear from Susan things they have done & wonderful picture Susan sent them every now and then updating me their activities. So happy they had such a good time with them, they were being taken good care of and pampered. Lots of walks in the country side.

Knowing that my boys had treated both Susan & Mark like treating us, I am so happy, they are like God-parents to them. At one point of time I thought they might not want to come home 🙂

My heartfelt thanks to Susan, Mark & cute Ruby when I desperately needed assistance having someone to take good care of them in stead of putting them in kennel or dogotels!

We have become very good friends and I hope to visit them when the weather gets a bit cooler. Really looking forward to see the re-union of the three musketeers!
